When it came to naming our new Palm Springs restaurant, we wanted to recognize legendary California-born author Alice B. Toklas, who penned a cookbook and memoir chronicling her life with Gertrude Stein. The influential partners were well known for hosting artists, writers and intellectuals (including Picasso and Hemingway) regularly for meals in their art-filled Paris apartment.

“Mary Sue and I felt this connection with Toklas and Stein, their love of art and design, and the hospitality they provided when welcoming guests into their home. It was how we envisioned Alice B. the restaurant: welcoming with friendly service, great food and drinks, and full of art and live music." - Susan

With portraits of Alice and Gertrude anchoring the dining room, the restaurant's rotating art gallery is a tribute to the duo’s creative legacy and features pieces created by local female and LGBTQ+ artists.
