Celebrate Day of the Dead

Join us for a celebration of Day of the Dead, “El Dia De Los Muertos,” the Mexican custom of honoring departed loved ones with an abundance of good cheer, refreshing drink, and delicious specials. Day of the Dead specials are available October 28 to November 10, 2014 in Santa Monica, Downtown LA, Las Vegas at Mandalay Bay and November 1st & 2nd at The Forum Shops!

Border Grill Downtown LA invites you to taste their festive Mezcal Sour featuring el silencio mezcal, fresh lime, organic agave nectar, egg white, aztec chocolate bitters or make it at home if you’re feeling fancy!

Mezcal Sour

1 3/4 ounces El Silencio Mezcal
1 ounce lime juice
3/4 ounces agave nectar
1 teaspoon egg white powder
Fee Bros. Aztec chocolate bitters

Tools needed:
Shaker
Strainer
Spray bottle/mister (for bitters)
Sugar skull, or other stencil (optional, see note below)

Add all ingredients, except bitters, into cocktail shaker and shake briskly for 5 to 10 seconds. Add ice and give it another quick shake.

Strain gently into cocktail glass, making sure the egg white foam layers on top. Enjoy!

OPTIONAL: Place stencil over cocktail glass, making sure it doesn’t touch the foam.  Spritz bitters directly over stencil at a 90 degree angle, about 4 to 5 inches away, making sure the entire template is filled. Remove stencil and serve.
